Hi guys! :)
Lately I've sort of fallen into lurker status here. Reading fic, watching Doctor Who, looking for a new job now that I've graduated. In the meantime though, I've found a new source of entertainment...

David's second time on The Friday Night Project is now up on YouTube. OMG, so much funny! I was quite literally ROTFLMAO. Oooh, and they also showed a short clip from the new season of Doctor Who. Freema Agyeman made a tiny cameo appearance too. :D

While bumming round YouTube I discovered this program called Pivot! It's used to make stick figure animation. I tried it out for ![[info]](http://www.insanejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) suzvoy's icon. Actually the program is so very bare-bones that I think I might have probably done it a lot faster with Photoshop! :b However, I think I could have some real fun if I could find software along those same lines, but with wider capabilities. :)

Just archiving...
It's my entry for the 2008 Flying Leap Challenge. My quote/prompt:
"Within all of us is a varying amount of space lint and star dust, the residue from our creation. Most are too busy to notice it, and it is stronger in some than others. It is strongest in those of us who fly and is responsible for an unconscious, subtle desire to slip into some wings and try for the elusive boundaries of our origin."
I decided to draw Mal and Serenity. This one's done with lead pencil, with a yellow-ish tint in Photoshop. :)

Last weekend I got a chance to complete that banner sketch for the H/D Big Bang III challenge. I submitted a drawing of just the figures for the banner itself, then proceeded to play around with the background, just for myself. And here's the resulting piece..

Step 1: I outlined the details for this piece while overnighting at Val's place, so I don't have photos of that part. But...

Step 6: Initially, I'd intended to use shades of blue for the sky, but somehow ended up sticking to just black and red. So after scanning the piece, I added a bit of a blue tint using Photoshop to complete it. And so here's the final version: KANDOR (Superman/Batman, G). :)

I illustrated 2 scenes for The Greatest Gift: A Superman/Batman Fanzine, which was released earlier this month.
Here's the first piece. It was used as a cover for From Krypton With Love by tmelange.
Design elements somewhat based on Superman: Godfall.
I wasn't at home when I drew this (Christmas in NY), and so this scene isn't exactly as originally outlined, but I did my best under the circumstances...

Not sure how successful this one is. The original visual in my head is a little more complex than the result. Maybe I'll try it drawing digitally next time, so I can play with layering and opacity.

Yesterday I had my first abstract painting class. I'm working on a HUGE piece, 3 ft. x 4 ft. It's supposed to be experimental, no specific subject matter. I have no idea how people do this stuff, the lack of direction is making me crazy! Right now it's still in the studio at school, but I'll try to take a photo later this week.
Anyway, after that traumatic experience, to make myself feel better, I went down to the art store and got a range of conte crayons. Came back home and worked on a piece. It's femslash, not really fandom specific (sorta started off as River/Inara, but I got distracted playing with the hair. *g*), but it was relaxing and fun to do. :)
I noticed Photobucket deleted some of my artwork, let's hope this one stays up.

Recharge (Superman, G) - It's the only one that I've printed out on glossy paper and put up on my bedroom wall. I love the idea of a renewed vigour, and the colours are powerful. And I have this thing for religious imagery...
My best artwork this year:
Storm (Sylar/Mohinder, PG) - Hard to choose a "Best" piece. I think all my work is "Good, but could be improved upon". So I'll go with Most Feedback. Either you guys really liked this one, or seriously pimped it out somewhere. Either way, thank you for all the lovely comments! :)

Step 7: Actually, by the time I was done blending in more shadows, I'd made a rather muddy mess with all that black watery paint. :b So I ended up opening up a tube of thick white acrylic paint and using it to highlight the wings and added little globs and swirls to bring out the dark background, which you can see here in the final version. :)

My prompt was Someone has an evil twin or Angels are among us. It's Christmas and I couldn't resist the angel wings, so of course I chose the latter. *g*
